Orient Express opens its first house in Rome

Once only on the rails, now in the city too: the Orient Express La Minerva opens by the Pantheon with 93 rooms and 36 suites, designed in the spirit of the legendary train.

Previously only on the rail, now also in the city: the traditional brand Orient Express has opened the doors of its first hotel and is ready for guests. The luxury hotel can be found at Piazza della Minerva 69 in the heart of the Italian capital. The Orient Express La Minerva has 93 rooms and 36 suites, three of which are particularly large signature suites. Convenient for sightseeing, the hotel is within walking distance of the Pantheon.

When it comes to design, the team of architects around Hugo Toro restored the 17th-century Palazzo in the style of the Orient Express train. The colour scheme with warm brown and beige tones is reminiscent of this, as are large suitcases at the bed, which symbolise the golden age of travel. The bedding is the same as in the original train. The hotel will have three F&B outlets that will gradually open: a Gigi Rigolatto restaurant starts on the rooftop in May, and a Japanese restaurant by Mimi Kakushi will follow later in the year. The bar La Minerva is already open.

Good to know: the brand's second house, the Orient Express Palazzo Donà Giovanelli in Venice, will follow this year.
